Magnesium Complex is a composition of three highly absorbable forms of magnesium – magnesium lactate, magnesium citrate and magnesium diglycinate – enriched with vitamin B₆, which facilitates Mg absorption, its transport to body cells and maintenance of its intracellular storage. Intense lifestyles, physical effort, irregular sleep, stress, alcohol and drinking large amounts of coffee all increase the need for magnesium.
Magnesium Complex supplements the daily diet with magnesium, which is one of the most important micronutrients and crucial to staying in good health. Magnesium is an activator of over 300 enzymes that are involved in, amongst many other things: the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats; protection of the heart muscle against ischaemia and hypoxia; prevention of heart rhythm disorders; regulation of blood pressure; reduction of blood cholesterol; prevention of atherosclerosis, and stabilisation of the nervous system. This results in a sedative effect and the increased productivity of our brain. Magnesium is also essential in bone mineralization and development.
Magnesium helps with:
• Proper functioning of muscles,
• Maintaining healthy bones and teeth,
• Maintaining electrolyte balance,
• Normal protein synthesis,
• Maintaining normal psychological function,
• Maintaining normal energy metabolism.
Magnesium Citrate – Provides very high absorption of magnesium ions and is 55% more soluble in water than magnesium oxide. The absorption of magnesium occurs simultaneously with the absorption of water, so the greater the solubility of a compound in water, the greater its absorption in our body. In order to ionise the magnesium citrate in the human body, less gastric acid is necessary. Magnesium citrate is recommended for people suffering with too little secretion of gastric acid. In addition, the citrate also releases citric acid, which plays a supporting role in the production of cellular energy.
Magnesium glycinate (Chelate) – A combination of magnesium and the simplest amino acid, glycine. This improves our body’s absorption without side-effects, such as a laxative effect. Magnesium glycinate supplementation contributes to alleviation of the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. People suffering from depression have low levels of magnesium, which is characterized by apathy, anorexia, confusion, cognitive decline, poor memory, anxiety and insomnia. Magnesium glycinate helps fight these symptoms, because magnesium supports the nervous system. The additional effect of glycine is its ability to remove mercury from our body (which can be consumed unconsciously, for example, through fish caught in contaminated waters). This beneficial effect is known as chelation.
Magnesium lactate – A magnesium salt of lactic acid. This naturally-occurring mineral supports the functioning of the circulatory, nervous and digestive systems. It also helps muscles work and glucose disintegrate, and contributes to the building of bones and teeth. And in combination with calcium, Magnesium lactate also supports the operation of the myocardium. Furthermore, it is also responsible for cellular efficiency as it promotes cell growth and cell division, proper cell functioning and metabolic processes.
Vitamin B6 – Enhances the effectiveness of magnesium by facilitating its absorption and transport into the body's cells, and maintaining its intracellular supply. B6 is known as the ‘magnesium fixative’. Both magnesium and vitamin B₆ are needed in the enzymatic synthesis process of proteins, and also contribute to many physiological activities.
